Christian Amsler attended the official opening ceremony on behalf of the Government Council of the Canton of Schaffhausen, alongside the Mayor of Schaffhausen Peter Neukomm, representatives from regional businesses, and partners and customers from around the world.
“GF was founded here in Schaffhausen 217 years ago. We are proud of our heritage and our history. This investment is a way of affirming our commitment to Schaffhausen as a location,” commented CEO Andreas Müller in his opening speech. Member of the cantonal Government Council Christian Amsler used his speech to express gratitude: “Given the current global challenges, choosing to make this investment was by no means a self-evident decision. We are proud that GF has such close ties to Schaffhausen.”
Sustainable, forward-looking investment
With the complete refurbishment, GF has sought to encourage exchange and cooperation among employees with a view to strengthening innovation within the company. As Joost Geginat, President of GF Piping Systems, stressed in his speech: “Innovation thrives when there is room for free and open discussion. Creating a building that would encourage those kinds of conversations was one of our top priorities.”
Consequently, over the past 18 months, 3000 square meters of new offices have been created, with co-working, team and project areas, as well as a training centre with modern training rooms and a showroom. With its brand-new solar panels and other energy efficiency measures, the building meets the Minergie standard. In total, GF has invested around CHF 20 million. The modernization of the GF Piping Systems headquarters is the biggest GF investment project in Schaffhausen for the last 30 years.
GF Piping Systems is a leading supplier of piping systems made of plastics and metal. The division focuses on system solutions and high-quality components for the safe transport of water, chemicals and gases, as well as corresponding services. The product portfolio of fittings, valves, pipes, automation, and jointing technologies covers all applications of the water cycle.
